Lucknow, 11 January 2024: The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) organised a momentous National Seminar on Environment and Climate Change, Green Economy- “Transition to Green Economy and EVs”, highlighting Uttar Pradesh as an aspiring hub for sustainable investments. The event, held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, witnessed a convergence of distinguished speakers, industry experts, government officials and entrepreneurs fostering discussions on crucial topics surrounding environmental sustainability.
Hon’ble Minister for Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI, and Investment Promotion, GoUP, Shri Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, affirming the state government’s commitment to transforming Uttar Pradesh into an investors’ paradise through sustainable initiatives. He said, “The foundational underpinning of any robust economic system primarily hinges on industrial development. We envision Uttar Pradesh as an oasis for investors, where growth aligns seamlessly with sustainability. Our commitment to industrial development goes hand in hand with environmental consciousness. The National Seminar on Environment and Climate Change is a testament to our dedication to fostering a vibrant ecosystem that benefits both investors and our precious environment.”
On this occasion, while addressing the gathering, Shri Abhishek Prakash CEO, Invest UP said, “Uttar Pradesh boasts the highest number of registered Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the country. Additionally, in terms of on-road EVs, Uttar Pradesh leads as the foremost state in India. Our government has taken numerous significant steps to promote growth in this sector. Emphasis has been placed on the expansion of electric buses in public transportation, and a separate sectoral policy has been implemented for the development of this sector under the new industrial policy.”
Shri Manoj Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, Government of Uttar Pradesh, shared valuable perspectives on the state’s environmental initiatives. He said, “With a focus on eco-friendly practices, the state government underlines its dedication to creating a harmonious balance between industrial growth and environmental conservation.”
The Seminar also witnessed profound insights on the significance of collaborative efforts in environmental preservation from Shri Pankaj Bohra, National President, IACC and Shri Kapil Kaul, Chairperson of IACC’s National Committee on Environment and Climate Change, and Member of ICC India Executive Committee along with Shri Mukesh Singh Chairman UP Committee IACC and Executive Committee member.
